Spicy Hot Chocolate
On a day like today, – 15C, – 26 C with the windchill and having an outdoorsy hobby…horses, you need something that can warm you up after spending 3 hours outside.
I love a nice hot chocolate, but I like a bit of spice in it, too.
By now, all my followers should know, I am the real ” Spice Girl”.
So here is the recipe, it is easy and the spices are usually in everyones spice drawer.
You need: ( for one cup)
1 cup of milk, full, almond, hemp or any other milk
3 tablespoons of organic raw cocoa powder ( any other good quality cocoa powder will do as well)
1 tablespoon of maple syrup
1/4 of a teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/4 of a teaspoon vanilla extract
1 pinch of nutmeg
1 handful of mini marshmallows (optional)
Heat the milk, add the cocoa powder, the maple syrup and the spices, let come to a slow boil and pour over a handful of marshmallows and you have an immediate warm feeling .
For the really frozen people a little bit of Tequila will make this a true cold kicker.
